Partner Dancing
1 hr. Workshop
A review of the basic elements of partner dancing
that make dancing easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.
This one-hour session will examine the characteristics of partner dancing that make it work effectively. Whether a beginner or a seasoned dancer, this review can lead to becoming a better leader/follower. In most lessons the emphasis is on a new style and associated variations, the foundations are generally assumed, thus neglected by both the teacher and the student. Since the foundations of partner dancing never rise to prime billing, many people dance for decades without having mastered those basic principles that make partner dancing so comfortable and enjoyable. This workshop focuses exclusively on those critical, but rarely emphasized, features.
Participants will learn:
- The one word that takes the mystery out of the dance step
- The two features that make partner dancing easy
- The most versatile dance step
- How to be a better leader/follower
- How to keep your partner comfortable
- How to avoid collisions on the dance floor
- Why simplicity is usually better than complexity
- How to make the simple appear sophisticated
